BREAKING: Government Employee Arrested For Leaking Financial Records Of Paul Manafort, Others

A Department of Treasury employee has been arrested for leaking confidential banking and financial records related to Paul Manafort, his business colleague Rick Gates, and accused Russian agent Maria Butina.

According to Bloomberg, Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, who served as a senior adviser at Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, was arrested for allegedly leaking the confidential information.

She reportedly leaked the records on Manafort, Gates, and Butina to the media from mid-2017 up to Oct. 15.

Edwards has been accused of leaking Suspicious Activity Reports, which are official government documents featuring an individuals financial information, to a reporter at BuzzFeed News.

Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, a senior adviser at the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, which targets illicit use of the U.S. financial system, was accused of leaking Suspicious Activity Reports to a journalist starting in 2017 and continuing until this week. The reporter and the news organization aren’t identified, but the articles cited by prosecutors were written by journalists at BuzzFeed — the most recent having been published Oct. 15.

Edwards began communicating with the unidentified reporter in July 2017, according to prosecutors. Between October 2017 and January 2018, she saved thousands of FinCen files, including all the SARs cited in the case.

The criminal complaint lists Edwards and a “co-conspirator,” who is not named, but could have been her boss or another high-ranking official within the division.

On Tuesday, Edwards was arrested while carrying a flash drive containing the SARs and a cell phone that she reportedly used to send the information to the BuzzFeed News reporter.

Last month, a Virginia grand jury found Manafort, who briefly served as President Donald Trump’s campaign chairman in 2016, guilty on eight counts of fraud, which occurred nearly a decade ago.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who charged Manafort, gave Gates a plea deal to testify against Manafort at the trial.

Prior to the verdict, Butina was arrested and charged by the Department of Justice in July on suspicions that she is a Russian spy.

Butina has no connection to Gates or Manafort, but her case hit the national media around the same time as the cases involving Manafort.

Interestingly enough, Butina reportedly met with at least two senior officials in former President Barack Obama’s administration on two separate occasions.

But more importantly, many argue that Edwards leaking the financial information on Manafort, Gates, and Butina was for political purposes.

Given the liberal mainstream medias endless obsessions with Trump-Russia collusion — despite no evidence at all to support the claim — it would appear that Edwards was leaking the information for more than a year to help spread the liberal talking points.

Edwards was leaking sensitive information and it certainly looks like it was for political purposes. And now, she has been arrested and could face several years in prison.
